Liyana’s artistic practice revolves around themes of spirituality and metaphysical interrogation through a cultural lens. As a Malay-Muslim female artist, her research is deeply rooted in rituals and taboos which is executed by means of textiles and videography installations. Recently, she has been delving into the explorations of embroidery as a form of feminist expression and a therapeutic form of solitude as her work investigates the topic of mental illness in an Asian family.
